Swatches: Mac Taste Temptation Mattenes with Comparisons

Flash and No flash

Mac Petals & Peacocks, Night Blooming, Heroine, Seductive Intent

Petals & Peacocks and Night Blooming are almost identical!! Huge plus since P&P is one of my all times fav lipsticks. I have a few backups but glad to see I have a similar alternative.

Heroine and Seductive Intent aren't as similar as I expected. Heroine is one of my fav purple shades by Mac and I was hoping Seductive Intent would be close enough to call a dupe. Unfortunately it isn't :( It's not as purple as Heroine, and pulls more pink/magenta. Of course with a lipliner, it can easily be tweaked to be more similar to Heroine. A photo of me wearing it can be found HERE

Did you purchase anything from one of Mac's latest Taste Temptation collection?

Swatches: Mac Spring 13' Forecast/Lips Palette

I know I have not been posting lately... Super busy with the holidays, life, and my upcoming birthday. I promise to get back to my usual routine of posting very soon :)

Now my last post was for Mac's Pro Palettes. I totally forgot that I had another one and wanted to come and share swatches with you all...

Nude, Talking Tan, Right On Orange, A Look In Lavender, Strut the Cherry, Electric Spring

I find these shades to be pretty similar to a few that I already own. I love the convenience of the different shades in one palette. Perfect for mixing to create new shades!!

Swatches: Mac Pro Lip Palettes

Wednesday, October 17, 2012

So if you follow me on Instagram, you already know that I purchased 2 of these Mac Pro Lip Palettes, 6 Preferred Pinks, and 6 Editorial Reds a couple months back. Since then, I went ahead and purchased my 3rd one, 6 Select Plums which happens to have some great shades for fall! Mac also has 2 more palettes, 6 Modern Browns and 6 Editorial Oranges. I passed on those as I already own a good amount of the shades from each palette already.

Now on to the swatches...

 6 Preferred Pinks

Violetta, Creme de la Femme, Lovelorn, Show Orchid, Please Me, Pretty Please

 6 Select Plums

Cyber, Amorous, Twig, Hang Up, Captive, Verve

 6 Editorial Reds

Russian Red, Lady Danger, Dare You, Ruby Woo, Mac Red, On Hold

Overall I think this was a great idea for Mac to finally make lip palettes. I own over 100 Mac lipsticks, and smashed almost 40 of them into travel jars for my kit. Was better for travel, however, it's still way bulkier than these palettes. So this is definitely a much better alternative. It's also great for someone who wants to try out many different shades and formulas. Much cheaper as you get 6 shades for $40(usd). The only downside is that you only get 1/3 product of an actual tube of lipstick. Not too bad in my opinion, as I hardly ever finish a full tube anyways. The formula for each remained the same, and applied just as well as the regular tubes. I actually prefer these better as I now love using a lip brush to apply product.

I purchased all of my palettes through Mac's Canada customer service. They're pro items available to everyone, however they weren't available through Mac's U.S. pro site or customer service back then. However, I did log onto Mac pro today and it now says coming soon. So I would think pro stores as well as Mac customer service (U.S.) should begin stocking them pretty soon. Until then feel free to order like I did via Canada's customer service number. Shipping is a bit more ($7.50 flat rate to the US for up to 10 items) but if you order enough product it'll be worth it.

So what are your thoughts on these new palettes? Do you own, or plan on purchasing any?

MAC: Marilyn Monroe Collection + Swatches

Thursday, September 27, 2012

MAC is known for many collaborations, and now they present a collection with none other than Marilyn Monroe!
Here is Mac's description for this collection...

"Pure platinum Hollywood glamour. Channel the legends luster & sex appeal in a colour collection distinctively Marilyn. It's everything you need to capture the MM look"

I ended up ordering 4 of the 5 lipsticks, along with a beauty powder, Dazzleglass, lipstick, and brow wax(not pictured). I already owned both eye liners, as well as 2 of the 3 lip liners. I passed on all of the eyeshadows and polishes.

Now onto more pics and swatches...

 Forever Marilyn

Forever Marilyn
Swatched Heavily and Blended

 Phiff!

 Scarlet Ibis

 Love Goddess

 Charmed I'm Sure

Deeply Adorned

Phiff!, Scarlet Ibis, Love Goddess, Charmed I'm Sure, Deeply Adorned

Eye Liners: Fascinating, Smolder
Lip Liners: Redd, Beet

Here are a few shade comparisons...

Lady Danger, Scarlet Ibis, Sail La Vie

SI is a tad bit more red then Lady Danger, and not as bright and orange as Sail La Vie

Girl About Town, Love Goddess, Moxie

These swatches were to show how red LG pulls on me in comparison to 2 other darker shade pinks

Red Racer, Charmed I'm Sure, Russian Red

CIM is a tad bit darker than Red Racer. Russian Red pulls more orange and is more brighter

Deeply Adorned, Rocker

As you can tell, DA is a bit lighter and a bit more red than Rocker

Overall, I'm pleased with my choice of items with the exception of the beauty powder. I'd have to admit I purchased it more so for the packaging, but was hoping it would be a little suitable for my complexion. But sadly it isn't. It's too chalky for me to even wear it as a highlighter. It's not as smooth as many other extremely light highlighter's that Iv'e come across. However, I do plan on giving it a shot, and will be sure to share my thoughts. Can't wait to try a few looks out with my new goodies :)

Do you plan on purchasing any items from this collection?

Azealia Banks: MAC Yung Rapunxel Lipstick

Saturday, September 8, 2012

MAC is known for many collaborations with many celebrities. They recently teamed up with rapper Azealia Banks (which I had no clue of who she actually was) and released a new limited edition shade of lipstick, Yung Rapunxel. It launched less than 1 week ago and is already SOLD OUT online!! Its a deep plum shade that has an amplified finish (one of my fav formulas by MAC). Below you can see a swatch of this shade as well as a few shade comparisons...

Yung Rapunxel, Rebel, Night Violet, Currant lipliner
(All by MAC)

Night Violet Mattene, another LE shade of lipstick, as well as Currant lipliner are both pretty similar. However, both are a tad bit darker and opaque, and of course Currant has a different finish. Darker shade lipsticks are in definitely in for the fall. I tried it on as soon as I received it and was pretty impressed at how well it suited me. Will definitely take some getting used to, as I'm not accustomed to darker shades, but I can't wait to see how it looks with a full face look!

What are your thoughts on this lipstick?

OCC Liptars: Part 2

I had previously made a post for my older OCC Liptars that I've owned for some time now. Wanted to come back and update you all on a few of my newer shades. You can see my older post along with swatches HERE. OCC has since then changed the packaging as well launched way more shades. Amazing colors, and an awesome upgrade to the packaging. I myself, as well as others had experienced leaking on the older versions, as well as issues with the amount of product that dispenses (way too much). Iv'e only had these new ones for a short while now, but Iv'e already noticed that the new packaging is much more user friendly than the older ones.

Now on to the swatches...

Demure, Belladonna, Nylon, Harlot

One of the 3 shades, Nylon happend to be a limited edition shade currently available online only at Sephora. The other 3 are available through OCC's website as well as beauty.com  which is where I purchased mine. They were running a promo where you received either Queen or Harlot free when you spend $10 or more. So I ordered 2 and received Harlot for free! Gotta love a great deal :)

Has anyone tried any of the new OCC liptars?

MAC Electric Cool Collection with Swatches!

Friday, July 27, 2012

Top row: Superwatt, Switch to Blue, Pure Flash
Bottom row: Highly Charged, Fashion Circuit

This photo shows the indentation made after I swatched the colors.

Now on to the swatches...

Pure Flash, Superwatt, Fashion Circuit, Highly Charged, Switch to Blue

Below are some comparison swatches...
all MAC eyeshadows

Naked Lunch, Pure Flash, All That Glitters,
Satin Taupe, Superwatt, Woodwinked

Fresh Water, Switch to Blue, Deep Truth
Shimmermoss, Fashion Circuit, Surf USA
Nocturnelle, Highly Charged, Fig 1

I also shared the pics below on Specktra. Wanted to show how deep the pan was (same as the normal eyeshadow pans) as well as how it was when I opened it. It was clearly broken away from the pan. But because of its sort of clay like texture, it was easily molded back.

 before...
after...

And as you can see from the photo above, the price tag is peeking out at you. I found 2 shades, Highly Charged and Switch to Blue at my local CCO!! Weird right?! I know... The lady at the store said that they had gotten them in at the end of June. I explained that they hadn't even launched yet, and she told me that happens when department stores are way over stocked. Sooo if your near a CCO, it wouldn't hurt to check in order to get them at 30% off!

Overall I love all the shades I chose, and I do plan on grabbing another, Infra-Violet. It hasn't launched just yet on the MAC website, so i'll just purchase it when it hits stores.

Do you plan on picking up anything from this collection?
